Payroll Tax Analyst

This position provides fiscal support for all tax related functions for Payroll Services; is responsible for payroll tax code setups, registrations, tax payments, tax reporting, periodic/quarterly balancing, tax notice resolution, periodic tax audits, tax research and general ledger tax entries for multiple states and localities; prepares accurate and timely payroll deposits and tax returns, including the preparation and delivery of W-2/W-2C forms, 1042 forms and other tax filings; processes adjustment to taxable wages and tax adjustment and assists with PeopleSoft Tax Update process; completes state registration process and updates state income and tax identification numbers as required; researches and resolves tax notices, performs periodic tax audits to ensure tax compliance and maintains supporting documentation; assists in identifying, researching, testing, implementing and documenting training procedures for efficient payroll and employment tax processes; fields employee tax related questions from the university. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, extremely detailed oriented and follow established internal control procedures.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education and experience; five years of experience in multi-state and/or government/education employer with employee population in excel of 15,000; experience with federal, state and local payroll and employment taxes and laws and filings, i.e. 941, W2, W2C and W3; 1042S; strong organization, time management and analytical skills; ability to work independently as well as part of a team; manage multiple priorities and tasks; detail oriented and excellent communication skills. Desired Qualifications: Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll System; Certified Payroll Professional.
