Duties and Responsibilities
This position in Engineering Technology Services (ETS) provides system support and administration for the College of Engineering; performs systems administration of UNIX, Microsoft (MS) Windows and Apple OSX computers; works as part of a team of system administrators; deploys, maintains and updates desktop images and third-party software packages; manages systems backups, restores and tape management; manages malware detection software and resolves related issues; supports mobile device use and management; manages to the security of the computing infrastructure; liaisons with the ETS Service Desk and teams, helps manage the data center and labs, manages student employees; manages and meets all compliance and reporting requirements of the University, College, departments and/or centers, as needed; adheres to the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) best practice framework.

Experience managing staff in a Help Desk environment; experience with IBM Spectrum Protect administration; experience with enterprise anti-virus administration; working knowledge of multiple version of Linux such as Red Hat, Ubuntu, Debian and SuSE; experience with administration of Apple devices through JAMF; previous experience with administration of a virtual machine environment; knowledge and support of NFS and NIS, DNS using BIND; experience with shell scripting and/or programming with other advanced system languages; ability to lift 25 pounds, climb stairs and have good dexterity.
Required Experience
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in computer & information science or an equivalent combination of education and experience; systems administration experience in a heterogeneous UNIX, MS Windows and/or Apple OSX environment; experience with Linux administration and support; experience building and deploying desktop images; experience using desktop management software to update third-party software packages and manage systems: experience with backup software administration.
