Duties and Responsibilities
The senior social media manager provides strategic management and leadership of the university president’s social media engagement and shares digital expertise within the Office of University Communications. Key responsibilities include developing and executing strategy for the president’s social media channels; creating and managing content; leading crisis communications strategy on social media for the Office of the President and University Communications; monitoring and increasing engagement with key constituents; and implementing multimedia technology. Additionally, this position will create and manage content for the president’s website [president.osu.edu] and provide editorial assistance across Executive Communications.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Minimum of 5 years of writing and editing, social media, web content writing and communication planning experience. Three or more years of experience leading, increasing and tracking social media engagement with key constituents through social media plan and campaigns. One or more years of experience managing crisis communications across digital channels for organization or industry, including monitoring, updating leadership team and drafting content. Extensive knowledge of digital trends. Proficient with MS Office and Content Management Systems. Ability to participate as a strong member of a team demonstrating leadership skills and social media expertise.
Desired: One or more years of experience writing for an executive, community leader or political candidate or one or more years of experience leading social media strategy for a leader or org.
