Duties and Responsibilities
The Senior Executive Communications Specialist will be responsible for telling Ohio State's story to advance the areas of corporate relations, technology commercialization and economic development. Creates and communicates stories across campus that will be of interest to target audiences including corporate partners, community leaders, faculty, university leadership, venture capitalists, scientists, startups, and others. Develops and implements the overall communications strategy for the Corporate Engagement Office both to internal university stakeholders and to external audiences utilizing a range of communication tools and channels.
Builds and enhances brand equity within the university, in the local community and nationally. Collaborates with Research Communications for media relations assistance with research stories. Collaborates with the due diligence team for technology marketing content creation. Serves as an additional executor for all project communication plans and event promotions. Drafts marketing content for collateral pieces. Serves as an additional liaison for colleges, departments, centers, external organizations, and various community groups.
Serves as a contact with various editors for promotional purposes. Aides in the strategic planning and execution of all outreach and educational events both internal and external to the university community.
Position Requirements
Desired
Advanced degree. Five years of experience in project management and management of a team. Experience in higher education and/or large institution fundraising or marketing communications.
Required Experience
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, journalism, communications, public relations or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years of experience in digital and print content strategy and development or similar experience. Expertise in marketing and communications principles, strategies and tactics; Outstanding strategic communication, writing and editing skills with the ability to disseminate information to audiences with varying understanding of marketing strategy; Extensive experience with digital marketing, including email, websites and social media; Proficiency with content management systems and social media platforms; Experience supervising staff and leading teams; Knowledge of marketing analytics and metrics; Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Creativity in developing innovative marketing and communications strategies; Strong analytical, research and problem-solving skills; Understanding of best practices and metrics for university and advancement communications; Experience with Adobe Creative Suite; Ability meet tight deadlines; Ability to contribute in a high-performing team environment; Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
