Duties and Responsibilities
The Ohio State University, Office of Economic and Corporate Engagement presents a groundbreaking effort for a unified university-wide corporate relations strategy. The Senior Director of Corporate Relations will provide concierge service to corporate and campus partners, by creating and maintaining mutually beneficial relationships that will lead to increased revenue and opportunities for both parties. Serves as a consultant to corporate partners by collaborating to understand their investments, industry driven needs, and strategic direction, offering solutions that leverage Ohio State’s strengths, represent their individual needs, and add value to their business and the university as a whole. Understands the corporate partners’ goals, strategies, and processes and proposes methods to propose solutions that add value beyond the partner's immediate requests. Initiates and maintains key strategic relationships and partnerships. Communicates cross-institutionally to liaise between corporate partners and units across the university. Demonstrates leadership and rapport building in order to recruit resources and construct teams to achieve the corporate engagement mission. Builds competence across all Ohio State functions involved in external business development in order to track industry trends, translate to university capabilities, and form response teams composed of the appropriate business development functions. Implements overarching economic and business development strategy for the Office of Economic and Corporate Engagement.
Position Requirements
Required: Undergraduate degree in related business field or advanced degree in specialty relating to economic or corporate engagement. 10 years in corporate relations, business development or sales. Proven ability to establish and achieve business development goals. Metrics and results driven. At least five years of new prospect development of complex alliances between academic, public, and private sector sponsors and partners; experience identifying, assessing, and resolving public-private partnership, sponsored research, and technology deployment challenges and opportunities in higher education; ability to work effectively and efficiently toward goals in a complex, diverse environment with multiple and changing demands; deals well with ambiguity and paradox; ability to develop strong relationships and work with senior-level administration, faculty, and staff to reach collaborative, outcome driven solutions; possesses outstanding verbal, written and visual communication skills.
Desired: Academic or higher education experience. Experience working in management consulting, account management, or corporate sales.
