Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the University's Central Accounts Payable (AP) team in the Office of the Controller. Ensures efficient, accurate and timely processing of payments while maintaining adequate financial controls. Develops, leads and drives business process and system improvements to achieve optimal efficiency and effectiveness of functions. Optimizes the use of automation to increase efficiency, accuracy and capacity and stays abreast of emerging laws, regulations and industry/peer trends and benchmarking.
Provides leadership to all staff and direct line supervision to AP supervisors, setting clear objectives and performance measures. Cultivates an environment and culture of process streamlining and continuous improvement. Ensures necessary professional development of team members.
Position Requirements
Maintains contact with vendors, central Purchasing and university departments to preserve high level of customer services as well as to resolve issues or processing difficulties. Provides guidance and oversight to university satellite AP operations. Collaborates with other business units' AP groups (OSP, OSUMC), OCIO representatives, business analysts and departmental representatives in various workgroups and project teams.
Experience
Five years direct supervisory experience in Accounts Payable or similar processing environment; experience in financial and procurement systems; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong leadership, motivation, consensus building and team problem solving skills; logical thought process; keen attention to detail; proven ability to lead, communicate and implement creative problem solving initiatives; self-managing; flexibility, adaptability and dependability.
Desired Qualifications
Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials including Accounts Payable module; 5 to 10 years direct supervisory experience in Accounts Payable or similar processing environment.
