Duties and Responsibilities
Manages the key control and offline card reader process for all Student Life (SL) facilities and departments on and off campus; interviews, hires, trains, evaluates and supervises student staff; identifies needs, problems and technical solutions for the ongoing support and growth of existing electronic key cabinets and card access hardware/software and web request forms; directs front end and back end support/maintenance and development of all access related web forms develops; serves as a project manager for implementation of large and small scale access control projects with maintenance, SL Facility Planning and Design, and Facilities Operations and Development (FOD), Facilities Design and Construction; manages planning and implementation of equipment purchases and the conversion of existing door hardware to electronic access; develops and conducts training sessions for University Housing residence hall and other Student Life staff on the software and web request forms utilized, technical aspects of the hardware and key control policies and procedures; develops master/sub master keying schedules in conjunction with FOD- Lock and Key Services; serves as SL Risk and Emergency Management (REM) liaison to SL departments for development of access plans from a risk based perspective for all SL facilities; develops, promotes and enforces key control policies and procedures across Student Life; provides reports for administrative staff; assists with safety and security initiatives; serves as the liaison between SL REM and FOD Lock Shop staff as it relates to Student Life key/access issues; position requires the incumbent to be available for call ins 24hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year; must be able to meet Student Life’s driver check requirements.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education and work experience; 3 yrs. experience in project management, program planning and/or administration; 2 yrs. experience in software support or web request form development; must be able to meet Student Life’s driver check requirements.
Required Experience
Desired: Knowledge of Facility Management, door hardware, or other security elements preferably in a university setting; strong working knowledge of the entire MS office suite and other database management programs; ability to learn/adapt to new computer platforms and programs; strong commitment to safety and security principles; and strong interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
