Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of the UI design team, in collaboration with other University Marketing disciplines and campus units, the Junior UI Designer combines the understanding of business needs, product requirements and the direction of the UI Art Director and transforms that understanding into user-focused and intuitive products, interfaces and platforms for mobile and the web. The Junior UI Designer combines visual aesthetics, interaction design best practices and leverages usability research to enhance Ohio State University’s brand image.
Focused on scalable, inspiring and seamless digital solutions, this position plays a key role in the creation of digital experiences within an ever-evolving digital space; Has demonstrable knowledge of UI design deliverables (i.e. visual design mockups, graphical assets, design implementation guidelines), working knowledge of UX principles; Is well-versed and able to collaborate across a variety of marketing disciplines.
Position Requirements
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications), HCI related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2 years design experience in a professional environment; Experience in creating static user interface layouts that adhere to a responsive grid structure; Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, web design and digital best practices.

Working knowledge in the ideation and creation of UI design deliverables (sitemaps, user flows with interactions, wireframes, lo-fi and hi-fi layouts, prototyping, final layout deliverables); Working knowledge of SketchApp or equivalent UI design software; Ability to take direction and ideate and finalize pixel perfect mockups for handoff to development team; Working knowledge of responsive Web design and frameworks that incorporate strong grid principles; Working knowledge of interaction and user interface design trends; Working knowledge of HTML, JS & CSS.
