Duties and Responsibilities

40% Responsibilities include initiating and preparing budget projections and plans, forecasting, analyzing expenses, preparing financial transactions and reports, preparing general funds and earnings budget allocations, working with department regarding financial commitments and agreements, and making recommendations on resource utilization. Consults with leadership on the fiscal wellbeing of the organization, identifies financial trends, and executes the annual budget planning process.

45% Oversees general accounting. Responsible for the preparation of GAAP based monthly financial statements and analysis and fund reporting. Oversees timely billings, deposit reconciliations, and the tracking and documenting of club memberships and affiliations. Ensuring data integrity in the Departments proprietary database. Researches and resolves related issues. Provides training and education to staff.

15% Responsible for the determination of the accounting impact of various transactions and ensuring compliance with all tax and regulatory reporting requirements. Consults with the Office of Controller, Business and Finance as needed.

Position Requirements

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with Microsoft software, including spreadsheets, word processing and graphics; ability to handle multiple projects at the same time.

Desired: Internet experience, experience with PeopleSoft financials; excellent communication, organizational and time management skills; CPA, CFA, or fund accounting experience.

Required Experience

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Business Administration. 5-7 years of financial management experience in a complex organization. Experience with FASB and GASB, budgets, accounting systems, reporting and analysis. Proven ability to provide a high level of professional interaction with all levels of an organization; strong problem solving skills; exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills; proven ability to maintain confidentiality.

Desired: CPA or Master’s Degree. Knowledge of university policies, fiscal systems, and auditing and internal controls.
