Duties and Responsibilities

Miami University is in need of an experienced candidate to serve as the Director of Treasury Services & Foundation Controller. This individual is responsible for all of the endowment accounting and cash management functions related to Miami University and the Miami University Foundation.
The role performs and supervises all endowment, investment, and cash management accounting tasks for Miami University and the Miami University Foundation. Examples include establishment of new accounts, unitization of endowments, recording of journal entries and bank deposits, and monitoring accounting and transaction activity.
Supervises the cash and investment activity of the University and the Foundation. Examples include daily funding of operating bank accounts, transfers to and from investment managers, remittance of payroll-related withholdings, and cash flow forecasting.
Performs and supervises the monthly reconciliation of all bank accounts, investment accounts, and credit card activity to the general ledger. Supervises the reconciliation of Bursar activity and University Advancement’s records of gifts receipted to amounts recorded in the general ledger and resolves any differences.
Prepares the Foundation’s annual financial statements. Prepares audit schedules, liaisons with external audit team, and responds to auditors’ inquiries.
Calculates and records the annual endowment distribution of income to each individual expendable account. Prepares mid-year estimates for the determination of available scholarship funds and for dissemination to effected Deans and Vice Presidents.
Works with University Advancement staff on non-routine gift accounting matters, including the recording of complex gifts, accounting for trusts, accounting for separately invested gifts, and recording pledges.
Oversees all banking activity and relationships. Administers security and user privileges for the University’s on-line banking platforms and ensures fraud protections and strong internal controls are in place. Works with departments to improve cash handling efficiency and security.
Position Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree,
- Certified Public Accountant,
- Minimum 8 years related experience in fund accounting, investment accounting, financial report preparation,
- FASB and GASB standards,
- Auditing,
- SQL/SQR report writing, spreadsheets,
- ERP and accounting systems.
Certified Treasury Professional Preferred.
