Duties and Responsibilities
Position Overview
The Senior Director of Development will lead alumni fundraising for The Ohio State University’s College of Medicine within the Wexner Medical Center. Serving a new, collaborative and visionary Dean with a hungry, hard-working team of five, this position will oversee fundraising and alumni affairs for the college and personally carry a well-qualified portfolio of major gift prospects. Major gifts at Ohio State are considered those of $100,000 and above but this leadership position will focus primarily on gifts of $250,000 and above. The College of Medicine advancement team is exceptionally collaborative and transparent. The Senior Director we are seeking will lead by example as a strong mentor, taking a solid team to the next level and will play an integral role in the planning of the next campaign.

Position Requirements
The Director of Development will raise major gifts for The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business as part of a collaborative advancement team that only succeeds if the team hits its goals together. Contributing to the team’s success in this role will include traveling the assigned territory of the eastern coast of the U.S., the state of Texas, the Atlanta area and a portion of central Ohio. Major gifts at Ohio State are defined as $100,000+ and entry into this position will mean the inheritance of at least 50 well-qualified prospects. Key qualities of the successful candidate will include strong interpersonal skills, a hard-working nature, and integrity above all else.
Required Experience
Based upon the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience, the classification of the position will either be a Director or an Associate Director. In addition to a bachelor’s degree, a Director must possess a minimum of three years’ experience professionally raising major gifts of $25,000+ and an Associate Director must possess a minimum of one year of related experience engaging in persuasive activities or sales with external constituents. The starting salary shall, therefore, be commensurate with qualifications and experience and is listed as negotiable.
