Duties and Responsibilities

The College of Engineering’s Advancement area has a dynamic new leader and we are ready to bring an additional fundraiser to the team. An opportunity exists to become a Director of Development that will focus on the Integrated Systems Engineering (ISE) Department and will inherit a strong portfolio. Focusing your fundraising efforts on ISE will allow you to be part of a collaborative team in an entrepreneurial environment with distinguished programs and 60,000 alumni, as well as strong corporate support.

We recently completed a record-setting campaign and are on the ground floor of planning the next one, so the time is right to join this goal-oriented, nurturing team. This role is for you if you want to expand your knowledge of great fundraising practices, be supported in a resource-rich environment and be inspired daily by innovation and strategy. All we ask is that you bring integrity to the role, push the status quo, love the fast pace and hit your goals.

Performance Objectives:

During the first 3 months:

  1. Build trusting relationships with advancement colleagues as well as college leadership, prospects, donors and volunteers.
  2. Identify, develop and implement lead generation strategies to identify major gift prospects.
  3. Begin work towards meeting performance goals/metrics. Annual fundraising goals will eventually target the following in order to raise annual dollar goals (to be determined):  120 prospect and donor meetings; 12 major gifts solicitations ($100,000 and above).

During the first 3-6 months

  1. Implement lead generation and cultivation strategies.
  2. Establish solicitation strategies for portfolio.

During the first 6-12 months:

  1. Implement solicitation strategies for major gifts.
  2. Establish stewardship strategies to acknowledge and recognize donors.
  3. Work with department chair to build vision and strategy, coordinated with college priorities and goals
  4. Organizational Overview

Position Requirements

The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of successful experience in major gift fundraising ($25,000 asks and above). Applicants must be trustworthy, strong relationship-builders with interpersonal savvy and possess the ability to navigate a complex, high-performing environment. Candidates should be a highly motivated self-starters who can travel (often overnight) approximately 50% of the time.

Required Experience

Please note that while the position is posted as a Director of Development, it may be filled as an Associate Director of Development dependent upon the experience level of the selected candidate.
