Duties and Responsibilities
The director will work to identify, create, and cultivate business opportunities for CDME through a standard project sales process. An active pipeline of new opportunities will be developed and presented to the leadership of CDME on a regular basis. The director will develop strategies to attain customer interest and advance offered products and services to conduct business with CDME and OSU. They will work with the CDME team to develop a sales strategy with defined annual revenue targets. This person will cultivate and grow high value clients while establishing new clients to sustain the growth of CDME. The director will grow and manage sales teams proportionally with the growth of CDME and its client case. This includes the identification, preparation and presentation of new proposals and programs that support the development of client accounts. Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Master’s degree, MBA preferred, and 5-10 years of sales or marketing experience or equivalent combination of education and experience; experience working with CRM and Microsoft Office software; extensive experience in academic research, technology commercialization and advanced manufacturing processes; excellent project management skills; strong interpersonal skills; strong communication skills; ability to demonstrate judgment and discretion to make effective decisions and problem solve.
Required Experience
The Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is seeking a Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate will have a background in the identification, development, and execution of a diverse range of manufacturing and technology commercialization related projects. Emphasis will be on developing long-standing growth relationships with industry leading companies and their supply chains.
