Duties and Responsibilities
The Accounts Payable Director reports to the senior director of procure-to-pay services, ensures the promotion and execution of a disbursements program of compliance, data integrity and quality assurance for the operational functions of accounts payable. The Director also ensures that all policies, processes, audit and regulatory requirements are incorporated into creating and maintaining a best practice department and cultivating an environment and culture of process streamlining and continuous improvement. This position also optimizes the use of automation to increase efficiency, accuracy, and capacity and is responsible for the professional growth and development of the staff; stays abreast of emerging laws, regulations and industry/peer trends and benchmarking and interacts with all levels of staff at the university.
Master's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting. Familiarity with university accounting systems, fiscal procedures, computer systems and relational databases.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 10 years accounts payable experience with at least 5-7 years in management role(s); experience analyzing and documenting complex business processes and producing appropriate electronic system solutions that result in efficient automations; proven ability to plan, lead, communicate and implement creative problem solving initiatives; ability to translate data, concepts, and processes for multiple audience levels; solid understanding of Accounts Payable, IRS regulations, best practices, business process design, industry analysis and financial analysis of teamwork, inclusiveness, calmness, and adaptability to a broad range of issues, people, and situations.
