Duties and Responsibilities
The Buckeye Link Counselor provides counseling and in-depth expertise to customers through interpretation, guidance and direction in support of admissions, financial aid, records and registration, and student account services offered by the University. This position serves as the primary point of entry for students, parents and internal customers and utilizes in-depth analysis of the university's student information systems to address troubleshooting and serve the customer through various mediums (phone, email, in-person, etc).
Position Requirements
Activities include but are not limited to:
in-depth analysis of needs, investigation of alternative solutions, development of recommendations for solutions, and implementation of solutions. This position functions with a moderate to high degree of autonomy and makes decisions according to established policies and procedures. Counselors are expected to manage their own workload to achieve productivity goals related to serving students.
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience; one year of experience in customer service or in a call center; previous experience problem solving customer issues while upholding company policy; ability to retain and communicate a significant amount of information; demonstrate good judgment and the ability to make independent decisions; exhibit resiliency in times of stress or change and the ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment; excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with those from diverse backgrounds.
