Duties and Responsibilities
The Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving leverages relationship-building skills with a genuine desire to help people support their passions in philanthropic ways at the Ohio State University’s Moritz College of Law. A competitive spirit, intellectual curiosity, and appreciation of data will help drive success when hitting leadership annual giving goals ($25K+ asks through multi-year commitments) to ultimately build a pipeline of major gift prospects and hit fundraising goals such as dollars raised and numbers of prospect meetings/gift solicitations.
The position builds collaborative, trusting relationships with colleagues, leadership, prospects, donors, and volunteers. Fundraising in this role focuses on alumni of the college and foundations. Since fundraising and stewardship events typically occur on evenings and weekends, schedule flexibility is key. Additionally, our friends and donors are found all over the country so approximately two overnight trips per month can be expected.
The Associate Director currently reports to the Assistant Vice President but will report to the Chief Advancement Officer when that currently vacant role is filled.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience; 1 year of work experience in annual giving, direct fundraising or related field; ability to understand the objectives of annual giving and the overall university fundraising priorities and integrate goals with those objectives; demonstrated written/oral communication and interpersonal skills to include tact, diplomacy, and discretion; ability to maintain confidentiality, negotiate and be organized and analytical; flexibility and adaptability to shifting priorities and demands; MS Office and alumni/donor database or Customer Relations Management system acumen; frequent workweek travel and occasional evening and weekend work will occur.
Desired:
Familiarity with contemporary issues and methods of fundraising and philanthropy; demonstrated success in higher education and/or non-profit fundraising; ability to collaborate with colleagues from a variety of disciplines; knowledge of Ohio State and its policies and procedures.
