Duties and Responsibilities
Summary:

Oversees strategic direction and fundraising for Pelotonia/Team Buckeye via outreach to and collaboration with a wide variety of constituents and partners including students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of Ohio State.  Sets fundraising and recruitment goals, plans and implements events and engages audience in order to increase ridership, retain existing participation and ensure the overall success of Pelotonia/Team Buckeye.

The Assistant Director reports to the Director of Development and Rider Recruitment for Pelotonia/Team Buckeye and is part of the Wexner Medical Center/James Cancer Hospital Advancement team.

This position is expected to be able to utilize MS Office; be an effective public speaker and possess effective verbal and written communications skills; have familiarity and comfort level with using various digital communication and engagement platforms; have the ability to work in outdoor weather conditions and work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends;

Duties and Responsibilities:

40% – Cultivation/Solicitation/Stewardship

Builds relationships internally and externally specific to operations of Pelotonia/Team Buckeye; cultivates, engages and solicits partners to further fundraising efforts towards assigned programs supporting Pelotonia/Team Buckeye.  Meets fundraising goals through engagement activities such as:  leading highly active student advisory board, collaboration with student/faculty/staff peloton team captains, speaking to University faculty and staff members and other community members, creating and implementing unique marketing and fundraising vehicles; and stewarding partners at all levels.

30% – Strategic Planning

Works in conjunction with Director of Development and Rider Recruitment Pelotonia/Team Buckeye to establish overall fundraising and recruitment goals for Pelotonia/Team Buckeye as well as specifically assigned program area.  Develops marketing plan and calendar of events.  Makes strategic decisions to determine approach to increase number of high-value partnerships and collaborations.

25% – Project Management/Event Planning

Creates, coordinates and implements events from small speaking engagements to large community events.  Duties include but are not limited to:  securing events dates; scheduling facilities; booking speakers and special guests; overseeing catering needs; creating event marketing materials; preparing event briefings; evaluating and monitoring event budgets, and overseeing volunteer activities.  Tracks data, runs reports, interprets results and recommends changes.

5% – Miscellaneous

Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. 4 years of experience in solicitation of key sponsorships/partnerships; 4 years of experience in program/event planning; 2 years of experience in cause-related marketing utilizing a variety of communication vehicles (i.e. print, social media and multi-media). Ability to be stationary for hours, be mobile and lift 25 lbs. on a frequent basis and 50 lbs. occasionally.
