Company Summary

The Assistant Dean for Finance and Administration and Chief Administrative Officer reports directly to and serves as an active advisor to the Dean. This is a highly visible and high impact position that helps develop and implement the strategic direction of the college and is responsible for the implementation, oversight and alignment of the business operations for the College including fiscal, information technology, human resources, research administration, and facilities functions.

Resolves issues on behalf of senior leadership of the college. Represents the college to the Council on Education for Public Health, the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health, and serves as the Data Liaison to those organizations. This position serves as a voting member of the College of Public Health’s Executive Committee and demonstrates a sustained commitment to diversity and inclusion in all aspects of leadership and management activities, decisions, and recommendations. Develops and maintains the centralized budget for the college. The position requires the capacity to think strategically and forecast, model and project revenue in addition to developing business growth and reallocation plans.

Assumes responsibility for anticipating opportunities and threats, and advising on prioritization of initiatives, with a strong focus on sustainability and financial strength. The position participates in development, monitoring, and evaluation of division and faculty incentive plans with an emphasis on both revenue generation and the educational and scholarly profile of the college.

Advises the Dean and leadership on fiscal matters; establishes administrative policies, procedures and systems; assumes authority to approve business transactions and, in conjunction with senior leaders, designs administrative policies and procedures; oversees the implementation and execution of college human resource functions to ensure compliance with University and internal HR policies and alignment with the organization’s strategy reinforcing the culture and values established by the Dean; supervises directly or indirectly the college business office including HR functions, research administration, operational, and support staff.

REQUIRED Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree; experience in an administrative capacity
  • Knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations
  • Knowledge of the principles and application of data processing functions
  • Experience with university budget restructuring and forecasting
  • Knowledge of OSURF policies and procedures.
Required Experience

DESIRED Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
