Duties and Responsibilities
As a member of Central Accounts Payable (CAP), the Accounts Payable Specialist will work in a team environment to ensure that CAP meets its mission of timely and accurate invoice processing for The Ohio State University’s financial obligations. The CAP team safeguards the university by ensuring strict adherence to Federal, State, and university regulations and policies. The CAP team provides efficient, effective, and professional service to our students, faculty, staff, vendors and other external customers. The Accounts Payable Specialist will contribute to the CAP team’s success by meeting assigned performance metrics for invoice processing and problem resolution, proactively identify problems and research root cause to propose solutions, engage teammates to collaboratively meet workload goals, provide coaching to vendors and internal customers, liaison with internal departments to resolve vendor invoicing issues, effectively prioritize workload to maximize productivity, and cross-train on all CAP activities to provide backup when needed.
Position Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to collaborate with team members to share best practices and improve processes; possess a high degree of analytical and problem solving skill; strong attention to detail; have a proven track record of delivering quality customer service; be self-motivated and take the initiative to identify and solve problems; communicate in a respectful and articulate manner; enthusiastically embrace change; and be committed to fostering a workplace that generates results while still having fun.
